Cristiano Ronaldo-The obsession for perfection
For the fans of Cristiano Ronaldo out there. The kind of personality on display is evident. What has made him that way? Let’s peep inside for the details.
“Nothing in this
life is easy. If it was, we wouldn’t have been born crying.”
The most incredible
thing about Ronaldo is his winning attitude.
“I always consider myself a winner. Things
may not be easy, but that’s OK. You need to be a competitive person, no matter
what happens in your life.”
Winning in this life only comes with overcoming obstacles.
Knowing one’s worth and having faith in one’s abilities is the key to success.
Higher expectations lead to great rewards. A strong mindset throughout the ups
and downs of life will ultimately take you where you need to be.
Secondly, an important aspect of a hustler’s personality is
competitiveness.
“It doesn’t matter
who your opponents are, because you should be getting better and better.”
A competent person
strives for the best. He becomes extraordinary. He stands out among the crowd.
Never stop competing. That’s how you upgrade yourself.
“Acknowledge
yourself as a smart person, but keep in mind no one is perfect.”
Even if you have already won in the past, keep on winning
until the day you retire.
“I am grateful
I’ve won the trophy, but I would like to win it again.”
The most important
time to work hard is when you have achieved something in your life, otherwise,
you’ll be heading for a downfall. Keep on setting new goals and targets instead
of putting an end to your struggle after one achievement. Keep renewing
yourself. This is how life flourishes. Mental focus is extremely necessary for
all this.
“If you are rich,
good-looking and a great footballer, people will be jealous of you. There is no
other explanation.”
The only thing
significant for you is- YOU. Your abilities. That’s all that matters. They
should be subjected to refinement to make them exceptional. Be indifferent
towards the haters. Their attitude will only demotivate you. No good.
“Be yourself.
Don’t change for anyone.”
Know that you are perfect in your ways, so start polishing
yourself. Be comfortable with people not liking you. Most of them don’t even
like themselves. Take good care of yourself and the right people will come into
your life. Be progressive, adaptable, and tolerable. A progressive mind is not
truly so until it shows tolerance for others’ views and opinions. It is
important to understand the difference between people who like you and those
who don’t. The former thinks highly of you because they know you and the latter
doesn’t. That’s why they dislike it. And that’s fine.
“My family is my
priority. I’m someone very easy to live with. And I have the best friends in
the world I can talk to.”
Acceptability is the
result of the right attitude.
As a little boy, Cristiano used to cry a lot of tears and
would be utterly devastated whenever he would lose a match.
“Talking
incessantly is not my style. It’s not good for your image.” Less talk and more
work is the golden formula.
“My aim and
ambition are to be the best. To make history.”
One important thing
is not to think about success. Keeping your focus on the destination will
distract you from the journey and prevent you from reaching it.
“I never think I
must score in every game. If you think that way you end up not scoring at all.
Where there is talent, ability and technical quality, the goals come
naturally.”
Life is a combination of relaxation and struggle. On some
occasions, you’ll have plenty of time to rest. On others, hard work will be
demanded.
We-footballers- are
normal people and have feelings like everybody else. Only we must be really
brave. “The higher level you’re on professionally the stronger you have to
be so that it doesn’t affect your performance.”
Don’t forget to take care of yourself. Train your body and
mind. Keep them working otherwise they will rot. And this will affect the
quality of life.
“I like to look
after my body. I don’t have any routine. I just train.”
At the age of 2 or 3, Ronaldo discovered his best friend-
FOOTBALL. It would always be by his side. He would play with it and sleep with
it. As he grew a little older, he would spend most of his time playing football
on the streets. In case a football wasn’t available; he would somehow manage to
make one out of socks. At school, he would even skip classes to get as much
practice as possible.
In your life, everything is somehow connected to the other.
Your early life, mysteriously, prepares you for the upcoming one. Playing
football out on the streets, which were narrow and busy was tricky. But it
taught him how to avoid getting hit and other skills that proved handy in the
real game. It also strengthened his character- made him courageous.
A talented and extraordinary person always shines no matter
where in the world he is. At the age of 7, Ronaldo’s first coach observed him
playing football on the field.
“He was
undoubtedly extremely gifted. It was in his genes. Very focused. Always chasing
the ball. He wanted to be the one to finish the game.”
He was called by the nicknames ‘crybaby’ (he cried a lot)
and ‘little bee’ (he would continuously zigzag behind the ball). When he was
12, he left his home for a training school in Lisbon. At first, the coaches
weren’t impressed at all- Ronaldo was skinny. They immediately changed their
minds when they saw him in action.
“That one’s
different. There is something special.”
The price of being too good takes the form of pride and
individualism. Although he would score many goals, when something would go
wrong, he would lose it all. He’d rather have things his way and wouldn’t take
advice in public.
Nevertheless, his determination and strength of character
seemed unbeatable.
“He had the kind
of leadership quality only the greatest players have.”
His experience at the training school was traumatic. He was
different from everybody else. He came from a different place and had a
different accent. Unfortunately, he was ridiculed by his classmates, which made
him feel like an outsider. Adjustments take time.
Although a decent student who liked science (but couldn’t
bear English), his greatest distraction resulted in his leaving school in ninth
grade.
“I regret not
having really enjoyed my childhood.”
Circumstances had
compelled Ronaldo to act like a grownup at a very young age- being responsible
and minding family issues. But life turned in his favour with his talent and
hard work. He had a lifelong dream to become a professional footballer.
Many challenges had come his way during his life. But the
pressure would always make him even stronger.
“I tested myself
and came out victorious.”
So, compete alone. You’ll be all right.
“Cristiano is an
incredible finisher. It is not easy to stop him. He is the best in this world.
He is out of this world. He wasn’t born in Madeira. He was born on mars. He is
not of this earth. So, he’s the best in this universe.”
