Brave New World

 






Brave New World is a must-read novel that interestingly depicts certain characteristics of a modren society. It raises concerns about consequences of technological advancements and dangers of modernization which will effect individuals in many ways.

Firstly, science and technology will become a tool in the hands of state to control the lives of every individual. All efforts will be centered around achieving stability, comfort and economic progress. There will be no concept of individuality or autonomy, necessary for ones freedom. There will be no privacy and no choice for people regarding their lives. They will be conditioned unquestionably to perform specific roles in society.

Free souls will be nonexistent. Every one will be considered a part of a whole- belonging to everyone else.Attempts to free oneself from this chain of slavery will be a rebellion and immediately punished.

People will strive for happiness and comfort. They'll do this by satisfying their needs and desires. People will turn their faces away from reality. Pain, suffering, age and sickness will be immediately remedied. This world will have no place for worries. Leisure will be deemed more wothy that anything else.

Consumerism will be high. As well as production. Conservation will become an old story.

The Brave New World presents a bizarre and cruel picture of modren society that is indifferent to the harsh realities around them. People will become excessively comfortable in their lives and unwilling to give up their leisures, all at the expense of autonomy- free say!

P.S I have somehow found this novel consistent with the modren society in many ways. Many people won't dare to have an opinion of there own and will blindly follow their tribe. Moreover, people are so immersed in entertainment- many live their lives in it- that they dislike the dark face of realities and will avoid it.

    We are out of the thing that we are not recognizing ourselves due to these modern tools and We are just wasting our precious time in these modern tools like phones, the entertainment tools. We are on our way to such drastic conditions that even we have forgotten about our feelings for our family and other relationships. We are going far away from the ground realities of life that Almighty Allah had gifted us.

A "little" problem

  In our society, girls have been and are still being brainwashed that the prime reason for their existence is to get married. After marriage, they have to put up with their in-laws. Before, if they are lucky, they can persue their dreams according to their will. But this will comes to an end after they get married! One often questions about the fruit of ones effort. Weren't girls educated so they could modestly upgrade their own lives instead of being heartlessly dictated upon. One often questions what respect have these girls earned after striving hard for so many years getting education. Why arent girls allowed to continually persue their dreams- to live and earn a bit more respectfully.
