Self Help-Get Smart

 Get Smart

Getting smart is about thinking and acting intelligently. This is a very common word- intelligence. We hear it all the time. A topper is perceived as intelligent. An artist who has shown his talents is intelligent. A knowledgeable person is intelligent. Similarly, a trickster is also perceived as intelligent. But what exactly does it mean?

Intelligence, according to me, is a ‘way of acting.’ It is such an act that makes you move closer to your goal. It’s a way of thinking or behaving in such a way that makes you succeed. So, when you are intelligent, you act smartly. A smart person stands out among the crowd. He is prominent because he thinks and gets better results.

The Chemistry behind thinking and getting better results.

So, you want to follow in the footsteps of smart people- want to learn how they think. Read about the long-term and short-term perspectives. The ultimate goal is the consequence.

The only measure for your quality of thinking is the RESULTS you get.

Your quality of thinking is great if the outcomes are desirable. If your thinking makes you achieve something then you are on the right path. The consequence is the final reality.  Behaviour does tell us the truth about someone. It’s what they do that counts especially when faced with temptation. The only real measure of your decision is ‘DID IT WORK?’

Your ability to accurately predict and foresee the consequences of

Your decisions and actions are the true measures of your intelligence.

In life, your success is based on your ability to ‘Think ahead and make those moves. The common denominator of successful people is ‘TIME PERSPECTIVE.’ Time is valuable; don’t waste it, is a commonly heard sentence. I’ve brought a similar concept.

Higher socio-economic achievements result when you practice longer and longer time perspectives. The act of long-term thinking sharpens your perspective and improves the quality of short-term thinking. Such people are future-oriented which increases their chances of success. Not only that, you have to be clear about your future.

The greater the clarity you have regarding where you want to be in the future, the easier it is for you to make correct decisions in the present.

Short term pain (Sacrifice) is essential in long-term planning if you want to get your hands on something.

Now you know that to become a millionaire, a long-term perspective should be developed. What is the way of doing it?

The answer is-Practice ‘back from future’ thinking regarding

*      Business and career

*      Family and relationship

*      Health and fitness

*      Money

So project forward and imagine all these things. Then work backwards-step by step on what you could do to achieve them.

Important Laws

Two Laws that trip people all the time

1)      Law Of Unintended Consequences

“In many cases, an act or behaviour brings about immediate positive consequences in short term but long-term consequences can be quite negative.”

Think about what’s best in the long term

2)      Law Of Perverse Consequence

“Results of apparently positive action turn out to create a situation that is far worse than nothing had been done at all.”

Sometimes you do something for the good but you get an undesirable result which never ever had wanted in the first place. These unintended consequences have to be avoided by thinking long-term.

Every action aims at some improvement. Mostly, the improvements made are of primary consequences with little consideration towards secondary consequences. This is because of thinking short-term.

Secondary and tertiary Consequences are the most important.

Another thing that makes you lose hope is

“People often underestimate what they can accomplish in one year and greatly underestimate what they can accomplish in five years.”

Comments

  1. Long term efforts are always better than short term efforts, you are right that if you want to act like intelligent, to achieve something, to be a successful person in your life you won't be able to do that in a short time, it is always accomplished by hard work and consistency in long term. Many examples prove that long-term work is always effective, I will take a simple example of teaching or studying that you always made a grip on a subject when you exactly give it time with long-term consistency. It's like slow and steady win the race. so simply we have to work hard to make history.
